Media: Keeping Americans Uninformed (Part 1: Life)

The majority of Americans don’t believe that the mainstream media reports accurately and fairly. Polls also show distrust of today’s media is at a record high. It is important to understand where their loyalty lies and by their reporting, it’s extremely easy to see the elite media has an anti-Christian, secular-progressive worldview. Pay attention to how they report the news when it comes to religion, politics, and social issues.

Do the elite media monitor the power of the United States government regardless of whether there is a Republican or Democrat in the White House? Do they report on subjects such as abortion or same-sex marriage with no bias and do they treat conservatives differently than they do liberals? Do they omit stories if the facts don’t support their narrative? Most of us already know the answers to each of these questions.

We’re going to examine the growing March for Life movement and look at the actual numbers, but let’s first look at a few basic Principles of Journalism:

1. Journalism’s first obligation is to tell the truth

2. Its first loyalty is to citizens

3. Its essence is a discipline of verification

4. Its practitioners must maintain an independence from those they cover

5. It must serve as an independent monitor of power

Has the media reported in detail on the hundreds of executive orders President Obama has signed – more than any other president – in just his first four years in office? He recently signed 23 executive orders on gun control alone. Today, however, we’re talking about life.

Approximately 83% of Americans feel abortion should have some restrictions placed on it by law, but only 3% of media elites do. Translation: the media often believe or support the exact opposite of the majority of citizens to whom they report the news. The president’s abortion views are extreme as well. On last year’s Roe V. Wade anniversary Obama said he intends to “continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”

According to Life Site News, the 2012 March for Life was estimated at around 400,000 participants, likely putting this year’s event at the half million mark, or even beyond. At what other time in America do a half a million people rally for the same cause every single year? The event was promoted and shared by many on social media through blogs, photos, status updates, and tweets, but the major media outlets either downplayed the story or ignored it altogether.

Instead, they preferred to report on Beyoncé lip-syncing the National Anthem, a college football player with an imaginary girlfriend, Hollywood liberals handing out more awards, gun control, and the First Lady’s new hair style. Instead of holding State Department officials accountable for the Benghazi assassination scandal, the media chose to swoon over Hillary Clinton even though her testimony was calculated, masterfully evasive, and uninformative.

Recent polls have shown a majority of Americans believe abortion is morally wrong. According to a 2011 Gallup poll, 61% say abortion should be illegal. Next to preaching the gospel, this is the most important Christian battle in the public arena. We rarely hear much about abortion in the news media.

As a general rule of thumb, estimated numbers at pro-abortion marches are doubled or multiplied while numbers at pro-life events – if mentioned at all – are cut in half, minimized or ignored. This is interesting given the pro-life movement is much larger than the civil rights movement ever was.

The culture war in America often intensifies whenever liberals feel outnumbered or threatened. Remember Chick-Fil-A Day last summer? The battle for life is no different.

One of the biggest battlefields in the country is the media. Think about this for a minute: you can search the Internet for, watch on television or read about nearly everything imaginable under the sun. However, isn’t it peculiar and suspicious that it can be extremely difficult to find detailed, factual information on the truth about abortion?

We’re talking about one of the most common, frequent ‘medical procedures’ in America. Try finding helpful, biological and medical specifics about exactly how abortion is performed as well as any possible cautions, repercussions, and side effects. Last week I wrote about the anguish of abortion including verifiable symptoms a woman may experience as well as many cases that resulted in death.

Celebrated and sold as choice, freedom, privacy, and rights, abortion has been covered up by the mainstream media or re-framed as a fight for birth control. Sadly, the message to kids and young single adults is simply sex without consequences. What a disservice, especially to women who’ve gone through the grief, guilt or regret of their decision.

The new normal where journalism is concerned is if a story doesn’t fit their narrative and their politics, the mainstream media with their anti-biblical worldview simply refuse to report the honest facts to citizens they’re supposedly informing. Rather than telling people about problems in America that affect us, they ARE part of the problem in America.

The media has too much power: power to influence people, affect public opinion, and sway elections – and they do. Know the truth, share information, and help change culture.

If you’re concerned like I am about the lack of truth in journalism today, know what news outlets you can trust and share those sources with others. Talk to friends, write, blog, email, and most importantly, pray for this nation! We should be asking God to open people’s eyes to what’s really happening in this country. Maybe He will still have mercy on America.

The Anguish Of Abortion: What They Won’t Tell You

Last week, graphic autopsy images were released of a woman dying from a legal abortion. Her mother insisted the photos be made public. The story broke my heart.

As 18-year-old Marla Cardamone lay in her casket prior to viewing, the funeral director suggested to Marla’s mother, Deborah, they close the casket so people would not see Marla’s disfigured face. Deborah Caramone told him to leave the casket open. She hopes to expose the lies of the abortion industry and wants people to understand abortions are not always ‘safe and legal’. In order to do this, she bravely chose to show her daughter’s bruised and swollen face, caused by abortion complications. Marla died at a Pennsylvania hospital and Deborah Cardamone vowed her daughter would not be forgotten.

Just a few days earlier, a medical counselor pushed Marla to have an abortion telling her that the prescription medication she had been taking would cause her baby to be born with severe birth defects. Following Marla’s death, it was determined by doctors her baby had no abnormalities.

Father Frank Pavone once said, “America will never resist abortion until America sees abortion.”

Thanks in part to advances in technology such as ultrasound imagery, it’s clear and easy to see a growing and moving fetus inside a mother’s womb which has raised awareness that an unborn child is alive, human, and abortion is murder.

Americans have tolerated the evil of legalized abortion and have become so desensitized to violence and death that we don’t see eliminating innocent human life as a brutal or selfish act – or at least we don’t speak up about it enough. God have mercy on our hardened hearts.

I recently had a head-spinning conversation with a young woman about defining life. She was so disconnected with the Bible, reality, and science, that she insisted if she became pregnant, whatever it was growing inside her was not technically alive unless she was at a point in her life where she was ready and wanted to have a baby. Apparently, this is called ‘reproductive justice.’

On this 40 year anniversary of Roe V. Wade when approximately 57 million babies have been legally prevented from being born – thanks to unelected federal judges enforcing immorality on all Americans in 1973 – Planned Parenthood receives $542 million a year from U.S. taxpayers. Some states are trying to cut off funding to Planned Parenthood, but this barely puts a dent in their $1 Billion annual budget. Regardless, abortion on demand remains the law of the land.

You may have heard the numbers: 1 in every 9 women who visit Planned Parenthood ends up having an abortion which results in one every 94 seconds. (In all abortion clinics nation-wide there is an abortion every 26 seconds.)

A new Marist poll shows 83% of Americans favor significant restrictions on abortion. Nineteen states enacted 43 restrictions on abortion services last year and even more restrictions were enacted in 2011 however; restricting the murder of the unborn is not enough. Even reversing Roe v. Wade wouldn’t stop the evil of man. Our culture is too far gone and only God through Jesus Christ can change human hearts. We need to reach people with the message that every single life is a divine gift and has value.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about America’s Culture of Death; the dark history of the abortion, birth control, and eugenics movement in America pioneered by Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger. It’s important to understand her warped worldview along with her atheist, feminist, and elitist mindset that justified population-control in order to successfully engage in the present battle for life and morality.

Sadly, we seldom hear an extremely important part of this discussion in the pro-choice media, or anywhere: the trauma of abortions often cause years of emotional pain, torment, and anguish. This is both deceptive and problematic.

Many young women who tell others about their abortion try to act normal and hide the fact that they are in physical or emotional pain. Many experience severe trauma soon after receiving an abortion. These are some of the verifiable symptoms a woman may experience:

Alcohol or drug use to distract from the pain; anger, anxiety, (probably non-specific or in form of panic attack) abusive relationships, (believing she doesn’t deserve anything better).
Denial/repression (the “pushing down” of intolerable emotions), depression, deterioration of self-worth/self-image, disruption in relationships (increasing inability to be intimate or social with friends and family).
Eating disorders, feelings of helplessness or powerlessness, flashbacks, grief; guilt, having unprotected sex or increased sexual activity as self-punishment.
Nightmares about a baby crying, death, or the same nightmare over and over; preoccupation with the abortion procedure or thoughts of babies.
Regret, remorse, sadness to the point of inability to handle basic responsibilities, self-destructive behavior, and suicidal thoughts or attempts.

If you have had an abortion, here are a few questions to consider: What were you like before your abortion and have you changed? Would you now advise your best friend or sister not to have an abortion if she were considering it? Did you have an abortion in spite of believing it was wrong at the time? Do you experience explosive emotions, or do you shut down? If you were a Christian before having an abortion, has your relationship with God changed?

In a study of post-abortion patients only 8 weeks after their abortion, researchers found that 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances, 31% had regrets about their decision, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their family doctor.

According to Priscilla Coleman of Bowling Green State University,

“Women who have had an abortion have an 81% higher risk of subsequent mental health problems compared to women who have not had an abortion. Also, women who aborted have a 138% (another study showed 160%) higher risk of mental health problems compared to women who have given birth.”

A New Zealand study that tracked women for more than three decades discovered 42% of women who aborted experienced major depression. There is accurate information available, but the media, Hollywood, government, and the abortion industry rarely address this issue.

Tragically, ignoring or denying these truths only increase chances there will be more cases similar to what happened to Marla Cardamone.

In 2012, the mother of a 24-year-old woman who died after an abortion filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Planned Parenthood of Illinois. Tonya Reaves died at Northwestern Memorial Hospital July 20 after she began to hemorrhage at a Planned Parenthood clinic. The Autopsy stated Miss Reaves suffered from an incomplete abortion. The story got little coverage.

Several years earlier, 25-year-old Diana Lopez was 19 weeks pregnant when she went to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Los Angeles for an abortion. Before the day was over, Ms. Lopez – just like Ms. Reaves – had bled to death from a botched abortion.

Another 18-year-old, Holly Patterson, entered a Planned Parenthood clinic in Hayward, California seeking a chemical abortion. She died seven days later (September 17) as a result of an incomplete abortion causing a severe bacterial infection. A Women’s Enews correspondent reported:

“Holly had taken RU-486, an abortion drug that has been used by more than 1 million women worldwide and is widely viewed as a safe alternative to surgical abortion. But Holly died tragically of a massive infection after taking the drug protocol.”

In July 2011, the FDA reported 2,207 adverse events in the U.S. after women used the RU-486 regimen. Among those were 14 deaths, 612 hospitalizations, 339 blood transfusions, and 256 infections (including 48 “severe infections”).

Tragically, many so-called ‘counselors’ at abortion clinics downplay mental and physical health risks the majority of the time in order to sell customers abortions, not to mention the fact that the procedure will violently end a child’s life. My heart goes out to those who believe the godless lie that this “procedure” is justified under the labels of choice and privacy.

In our sexually permissive and progressive culture, it’s no wonder young women are sexually active and those who have had abortions need our prayers, not our judgment. Being a product of American culture, post-abortive women, especially religious women, are most likely suffering enough for their sin. At that point, they first need God’s forgiveness and then learn how to forgive themselves.

The promotion of biblical principles and abstinence education in churches, schools, and society is vital in order to affect positive change. Stop messing around, yes. Use protection, yes. Limit abortions, yes. Vote for pro-life candidates, yes. Stop funding Planned Parenthood with our tax dollars, yes! But we also need to remember the power of prayer, the Word of God, and true, caring Christianity. People may not respond to debates, laws, or rules, but they most always – eventually – respond to unconditional love. Let’s keep speaking the truth and fighting for life.

Washington’s Spending Addiction And Fiscal Deception

There has been plenty of confusion and misinformation about the national debt, fiscal cliff, and new taxes on Americans thanks in part to the use of clever White House talking points and a complicit national media. Let’s clear up some of the current issues with facts and truth; the numbers don’t lie.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the latest fiscal cliff deal will add an additional $4 trillion to the national deficit. This is not a good way to begin 2013. What we do know is the 150-page Obama-Biden-Reid ‘Tax & Spend’ increase passed the Senate and House with few details getting out to American taxpayers.

Only ignorant and under-informed citizens still believe there is any accountability in the Obama administration or that they’re attempting to govern with transparency.

With new Obamacare taxes already kicking in as of January 1, this is not a good sign. We constantly heard the president and his minions say, “taxes will not increase for the majority of Americans,” especially for those making less than $250,000 a year.

What we now know is the farcical fiscal deal doesn’t just hit the wealthy hard, taxes now increase for 77% of Americans because the temporary payroll tax cut was not extended causing the Social Security tax to jump 2%, from 4.2 to 6.2 percent. We are now taking home anywhere from $50 to $189 less every month.

Already, many poor and middle-class folks have reacted in anger or shock including some Democrats that believed it would not affect them. The average American family making $50,000 a year will be hit with around $1,000 due to tax increases.

How quickly we forget that in just one term President Obama increased the national debt as much as all prior Presidents, from George Washington to George Bush, combined.

Before continuing, let’s recall a 2008 quote from then-Senator Obama who blasted President Bush for adding $4 trillion to the national debt – even though most Democrats and Republicans agreed to the spending in the hopes of avoiding a crash of the U.S. banking system and economy: “The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion dollars for the first 42 presidents — number 43 added $4 trillion dollars by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion dollars of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child.”

Hopefully, more open-minded Americans now see the hypocrisy of Obama claiming Bush administration spending was both “irresponsible” and “unpatriotic.”

To raise taxes on people in all tax brackets, not just “the rich,” was a mind-boggling move in what many call a recession, but this is exactly what they enacted. Cuts were not considered, the national debt of $16.4 trillion was not considered so the hard working people in America lose.

Before we detail some of the pork it needs to be pointed out that the bill seems to take direct aim at married couples, penalizing them with hundreds of dollars in what might as well be called fines. Heterosexual marriage is practically being discouraged against. Families are the backbone of the free market system and key to get the economy growing again. We’re now seeing evidence this administration has much more invested in growing government than the private sector.

Senators received the fiscal cliff bill at the last minute and voted on it without reading through the legislation. Who can forget the Obamacare bill being shoved through Congress while Nancy Pelosi infamously said, “You have to pass it to find out what’s in it.” What did Pelosi think of the fiscal cliff resolution? She said it was “a happy start to a new year.” The bill contains $25.1 billion in cuts however; big government liberals are thrilled because the same bill also increases spending by $330 billion over ten years.

Basically, the deal contains $10 in tax increases for every $1 in spending cuts. Imagine trying to operate a family budget or small business using this method.

President Obama approved of the temporary band-aid as he continued his Hawaiian vacation on the taxpayer dime. He successfully piled America’s fiscal problems onto taxpayers, further showing he never cared about cutting spending. This is who half of American voters chose to reelect.

Also seeing major tax increases are those earning $400,000 and couples that make $450,000 – sounds like a marriage penalty to me – including capital gains and dividend taxes. Moreover, deductions are now limited for individuals making more than $250,000 ($300,000 for couples). It seems like the Left no longer only considers millionaires “rich.”

Our government is adding about $4 billion a day to the national debt while the new ‘spending money we don’t have’ deal provides generous tax breaks, perks and pork to selected corporate friends. The list includes: $12.1 billion for the wind-energy (green) sector, $430 million for Hollywood film producers, $222 million for rum distillers in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, $331 million for railroad operators, $650 million tax break for manufacturers of energy-efficient appliances, and $59 million to algae growers for biofuel efforts.

Meanwhile, unemployment has barely budged, food stamps have massively increased, and U-6 Total unemployment remains at 14.4 percent.

If any good news can come from Republicans caving again, John Boehner told the Wall Street Journal he will never again negotiate with Obama behind closed doors because the president has shown his true red colors, and his actions don’t match his public statements.

“At one point several weeks ago, the President said to me, ‘We don’t have a spending problem.’” Once he got over his shock, the House Speaker fired back, “‘But Mr. President, we have a very serious spending problem.’

In keeping with the motto of not letting a good crisis go to waste, even the Senate wouldn’t even help hurricane Sandy victims without dealing themselves millions in new pork. Nearly a quarter of the $60-billion package goes somewhere else than directly to the victims or the infrastructure actually damaged by the hurricane. No surprises here.

It seems our leaders in Washington keep doing the same things over and over again and expect different results. It’s fiscal insanity. Democrats now say the fiscal cliff is just the tip of the taxing iceberg while Republicans say they’ve compromised enough. According to The Hill, the President’s party is pushing for another trillion in “new revenue” before the year is out. Revenue (government income) to them means taxing the people. Americans are taxed enough already. Have we now gone past the point of no return? How much more will the people take?

America’s Culture of Death: We Need Abortion Control, Not Gun Control

This is an excerpt from the chapter, “Planned Parenthood’s Buried History” from the book, ERADICATE: BLOTTING OUT GOD IN AMERICA

America does not have a gun problem; we have an apathy problem. Our consciences have been seared, and protecting the innocent is no longer a priority. We have become desensitized to evil, the very evil that has led to life being devalued in the United States. If polls show that the majority of American citizens do not approve of taxpayer funding of abortion, why do we continually pay for this brutal act? If the average American doesn’t speak up, at least Christians should.

Less than two percent of abortions are due to rape or a mother’s life being threatened, so why do we rarely hear an honest discussion about reducing or eliminating the 98% of abortions performed because of convenience, selfishness, and other unbiblical reasons? Furthermore, why do we continue allowing government to force all working Americans to pay for all of abortions in America?

In Psalm 139:13-16, the Bible teaches about God creating life:

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful…. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

We need to look at how this ongoing evil has come to be accepted; and in order to do this, it’s important to expose Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger’s legacy of death.

Ninety-six. Remember this number. A baby is aborted at a Planned Parenthood facility somewhere in America every 96 seconds. In that same amount of time, Planned Parenthood receives about $1,056 taxpayer dollars. That equals eleven dollars a second and allows them to abort 910 lives every day. How did it get to the point in America where we kill our own and call it a choice? It sure did not happen overnight, but it does occur – Every 96 seconds…

EUGENICS: SHOCKING HISTORY OF A WARPED WORLDVIEW

Most everyone would consider Adolf Hitler pure evil, and yet few people know he was as inspired by the eugenics movement in America as Margaret Sanger was about Germany’s progress. Eugenics is the study of or belief in the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a population, especially by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) OR, encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics). Hold on to your coffee while we connect some dots.

In her 1922 book The Pivot of Civilization, Margaret Sanger wrote:

“Constructive Eugenics aims to arouse the enthusiasm or the interest of the people in the welfare of the world fifteen or twenty generations in the future. On its negative side it shows us that we are paying for and even submitting to the dictates of an ever increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all – that the wealth of individuals and of states is being diverted from the development and the progress of human expression and civilization.”

What Adolf Hitler did to millions of Jews through eugenics and sterilization, Margaret Sanger has dwarfed by pioneering a movement causing the abortion of over one hundred million babies in the United States alone. Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger promoted a eugenic ideology that eventually led to the gas chambers in Germany. A truth seeking, fair-minded person cannot read Sanger’s writings without seeing her influence in America and the world.

Sanger’s publication, The Birth Control Review, was founded in 1917 and through the years, she often published articles from eugenicists such as Ernst Rudin.

Ernst Rudin (1874-1952) was a psychiatrist who worked as Adolf Hitler’s director of genetic sterilization and founded the Nazi Society for Racial Hygiene, which was Germany’s racial purity program. But what most people fail to realize is it was the United States that led the forced sterilization movement which began on the mentally ill and on prisoners. Between 1907 and 1939, more than 30,000 people in twenty-nine states were sterilized, many of them unknowingly or against their will, while they were incarcerated in American prisons or mental institutions. Nearly half the operations were carried out in California.

In 1932, Margaret Sanger published “A Plan for Peace” in the April issue of her Birth Control Review, which included the following as part of her agenda:

“To give certain dysgenic groups in our population their choice of segregation or sterilization.
To apportion farm lands and homesteads for these segregated persons where they would be taught to work under competent instructors for their entire lives.

“The first step would thus be to control the intake and output of morons, mental defectives, epileptics.

“The second step would be to take an inventory of the secondary group such as illiterates, paupers, unemployables, criminals, prostitutes, dope fiends; classify them in special departments under government medical protection, and segregate them on farms and open spaces as long as necessary…

Ernst Rudin’s article, “Eugenic Sterilization: An Urgent Need,” was also published in 1932 in Sanger’s Birth Control Review journal. The following year, Rudin drafted the Nazi Sterilization Law in Germany which originally called for the sterilization of “schizophrenics,” “alcoholics,” and “manic-depressives” – the subjects of Rudin’s research. As these legal sterilizations began, programs were already underway to sterilize “black” Germans and expanded to include Jews, Gypsies and, in the words of Rudin, other “inferior race types.” This led to the establishment of a killing program that began at several of Germany’s psychiatric hospitals.

After World War II had concluded, the horrors of eugenics and Nazi atrocities – including the use of concentration camps, human experimentation, and the gas chamber – were exposed. Sanger acted deceptively and quickly to attempt to distance herself and the Birth Control League from the Third Reich’s “Final Solution.” Her idea to change the name of her organization was a shrewd one, desiring no trace of her close Nazi associations. Until that time, the birth control and the eugenics movements were nearly impossible to separate…

At the Nuremberg Trials in 1945, Allied prosecutors recited the appalling account of Nazi crimes, including the practice of forced sterilization. One of the excuses given by the German Socialists who defended their drastic population control measures was that they were inspired by the progress of the birth control movement in the United States, which was not a lie. By 1956, abortion became legal in eleven more European nations, and within another few years, UN Agencies would begin to subsidize Planned Parenthood programs in many other countries…

Some may argue that Planned Parenthood is not just about choice, but also about women’s health, and they provide other services such as counseling. If they make money with every single abortion, but lose money if a young woman changes her mind and walks out their door, which way do you think Planned Parenthood ‘counsels’ girls? Of all pregnant girls and women seen by Planned Parenthood, 91% end up having abortions. First of all, thank God for the nine percent!

Recent statistics show that the ratio of aborted babies to adoption referrals is 340 to 1. For every one potential adoption, 340 lives are destroyed. Total Planned Parenthood health center income from all of their “services” is nearly $405 Million. When we add the federal funding to this figure, it is over $1 Billion dollars! Planned Parenthood has now grown to nearly 900 clinics across America.

We must pray that America miraculously develops a conscience again and that Christian hearts are softened. Our ministers, pastors, and priests must get involved again and talk openly about abortion. We must also elect more conservative, pro-life, and pro-family representatives to local and state legislatures. This truly is one of the most important battles in our culture because our rights – including out right to life – comes from God. We need to tell people the truth and highlight the contrast of two completely opposite worldviews. [Sanger vs. God]
